Rax, I saw the Dark Knight finally (last week) but you'll have to wait a little longer for the review because I'll write a Batman Begins review first. Nolan's Batman tales will be a two-volume article.

Kris, I have no problems with people who like this movie for the reason you have stated, because this is the kind of film that will deliver if it succeeds to entertain you. Despite everything I have criticized, if I had been entertained with Iron Man, the score would've been higher but unfortunately I didn't. That's why I think nothing seems right about this film.

and i'd give it a solid 7... Even though you have good points here, i still tend to disagree with your score...
'Cause i just found it entertaining enough that i left the cinema feeling content with the movie :D
Dunno, maybe i'm just not that demanding when it comes to movies or dunno what :P

Marcy, I must say even I cannot wait to see my own take on The Dark Knight :) The anticipation is huge but I'm finally seeing it tomorrow. Depending on how comfortable I feel about the whole film, you may see a review here shortly.

Iron Man is definitely not short of unintentionally funny moments but I wouldn't want to focus your expectations on that aspect only. I cannot deny the existence of some intentionally funny moments and little bits of interesting details, however minute they may be.

Fletch, we share a similar amount of dissatisfaction about The Incredible Hulk. I have just checked your Iron Man review once again and up until your final rating, I was convinced that we had similar opinions in this one as well :) I liked the things you liked (roughly) and I hated the things you hated (and definitely many more) but probably the importance we give to each of these entries/topics is different (e.g. a great cast doesn't even come close to substituting for all the incoherences and plausibility errors you and I have kept mentioning). Hence our vastly different ratings.

And this is all I was trying to say. When a film is not ambitious and does not take itself seriously, I don't go after factual errors and/or be protective about my suspension of disbelief. I guess people should understand that before asking me to "lighten up" and "take it easy".

Your review here reminded me somewhat of my feelings on The Incredible Hulk. They are the kinds of thoughts that lead a number of people to say "c'mon, lighten up, it's just a comic book movie!" While I disagree with your final rating here, I sympathize with your plight, even moreso since Iron Man clearly had loftier goals than Hulk ever did, and touched audiences even deeper as well.

It definitely is laughable that it's called an action movie, though, that's for sure. The final battle was the weakest of the three action scenes, making it even worse.

I haven't seen Iron Man yet, but this line ...

"So [Tony Stark is] a man who has everything... but nothing"

Great review, though. The way you described the film made it seem unintentionally funny...and that strangely appeals to me.

I can't wait to read your take on The Dark Knight.
